Everything… I have found the hardest thing to do is to change everything with my business. I knew when I set out to open my own photography business that it would evolve and change over the years but 2 years ago I would have never guessed that I would change everything. I have reinvented myself and my business over the last couple of months and I have to say that it was a scary process. You can never know exactly where you are heading until you actually get there. Sure you can have a plan, and you can start executing that plan but you have to factor in the public. Yes, your clients. What appeals to them. After all isn’t that why we are here? No. I am not saying change your creativity or approach to your artwork b/c that is who you are but you do need to change how you market your brand. I have formally introduced my new logo. I had to go through several designers to finally get something I could be proud of. I consider myself a unique individual and I strongly feel that my logo should be just as unique as I am. There are some opinions out there that you should mainstream your logo so that people think you are serious and can provide quality work. At first, I decided to go with that b/c after all I AM serious and I think I produce quality work. As I was reviewing the logo designs that he provided I hyped myself to be excited about them. I tried to convince myself that this is going to show people that I am serious and I can provide them quality work . That uneasy feeling never let up. It was difficult to pick one. There were things I liked about each of them but they just didn’t give me that feeling I was looking for. I didn’t feel they captured who I was or what I can deliver. To me, they just said I was a plain photographer. I am so much more than just a photographer. I know that I needed/wanted a logo that showed that there was more to me than just being a photographer. With a lot of hesitation I set out to do it on my own. It took some time, lots of revisions, and determination to capture and portray my uniqueness but I am happy with it. I can almost guarantee that it may change a bit as I grow as a business woman and artist but I know that every change that I make going forward will be a direct reflection of who I am. This is my story…
